Land Down Under #7, 2016

Land Down Under #7 was shown at Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre from June to August 2016, as part of the exhibition 'Wonder’. The work reinterprets an earlier watercolour on paper image as a large-scale interactive installation. Visitors are given narrative control, able to pose in the set with paper props provided by the artist. They can be a swimmer or a shark - colouring, cutting and creating swim caps, flippers, goggles, shark masks and fins. There are also crabs, an ark and giant fish to choose from. Throughout the exhibition gallery goers were encouraged to share their adventurous snaps on instagram under the hashtag #HazelhurstGallery.

The work also travelled to Redcliff Art Gallery and Bundaberg Regional Gallery. At both venues the work was playfully installed to suit the space and needs of the respective communities of interest.

Land Down Under #7 is part of The Wonderful Land of Oz series. A large body of work that includes drawingsphotographs, interactive installations, a filman installation and a public artwork, which articulate a critical reading of the Australian landscape.
